Hello Southernistas! Sorry for this late post but you know Florence decided to pay North Carolina a visit last weekend which made it slightly impossible to give my blog any attention but I’m back now! Thank you to everyone who reached out to me to make sure my family and I were safe.
Today I am so excited to talk about Lane Bryant’s first influencer collaboration with Tanesha Awasthi whose blog is Girl with Curves and they couldn’t have made a better choice for this important first. I am a big fan of her blog and of her style aesthetic which is very chic, sophisticated, and modest. This collection dropped September 9th and I went after church to check it out and lets just say I didn’t leave empty handed. This is a beautiful collection and it is obvious Tanesha really designed this collection with comfort as well as style in mine! All of the dresses have pockets and for us single ladies there are no zippers and plenty of stretch. If you haven’t seen the collection I would advise to run don’t walk to your local Lane Bryant or go to Lane Bryant’s website and check out the collection. As I’ve already stated the collection is selling out fast.
I knew when I had to have this dress when I first saw it on the website. This beautiful purple is so rich and the print is beautiful and perfect for Fall.
My next purchase was this beautiful pleated dress. I love the print and I love the softness of this dress and it has pockets! When I tried this dress on at Lane Bryant I immediately felt very demure and like a lady.
This beautiful yellow floral top is a showstopper and this sleeves are great for someone like me who has large arms. It is a great way to take a suit up a notch or to pair with a pair of jeans or leggings. I missed it but my Mom didn’t and I can say is thinks Mom!
Although I was denied the pleated trench coat I did purchase this cute duster/jacket
I love this top so much that I bought the black one too!
If you have purchased any of the pieces from this collections I would love to hear from you.
Until next time Southernistas remember to Be Bold, Be Fearless, Be Confident!
Hey Y’all! Happy Sunday Southernistas! I hope y’all’s weekend has been a good weekend and that you have recharged your batteries and are ready to start another work week. I look forward to Sundays to go to church and be revived and renewed by the Holy Spirit.
On the weekend it is so tempting to let ourselves “go” as my Grandmother would say especially when you get up through the work week and slay in the office it is easy to want to throw on sweat pants and a t-shirt and call it a day. I am very intentional in my fashion choices even on the weekends because in the past I have just thrown on anything and left the house but those days are behind me. I still want to look very chic but casual and this Roaman’s scarf print maxi dress from Full Beauty is the perfect choice when I want to look stylish and still be causal. I actually bought this dress in several prints and it was the best decision I made! This dress is very light and comfortable. You can add a denim jacket and white tennis shoes as we start to make that transition to Fall or wear it as I did today with some cute low heeled mules or with some cute wedges. This is a perfect weekend look
Until next time be Be Bold, Be Fearless, Be Confident!
Hey Y’all! Hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a fun weekend spending time with my 14 year old niece and my Mom for some girl time.
This past week started really rough for me I was sick for two days and both days I drug myself into work because a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! This girl has to make money to feed her shopping addiction. As the week went on I started to feel better. By Thursday I was 100% and knew this caused for come sparkle so I decided to breakout this beautiful sequin skirt I got from Eloquii last year and I paired it with this green top I received in one of my Dia & Co boxes. I decided to keep my accessories neutral so I work this nude Mary Jane heels from Shoe Carnival and my Nine West Tote. When I walked out the door that morning I knew my sparkle was on again. Now you might think sequins are for the holidays but they are not just for the holidays and they can be incorporated in your wardrobe. You may work in an office setting where you can’t go full on sequins but think about outside the office when you are getting together with your girls for a night out or even just going to the grocery store. There is nothing like a little sparkle to perk up your day!
Until next time Southernistas remember BE BOLD, BE FEARLESS, BE CONFIDENT!
Happy Sunday y’all! Well it’s the first official weekend of Summer! Welcome Summer
As a plus size woman the one thing I’ve learned is that there are a lot of fashion don’ts for plus size women. Don’t wear floral anything, no stripes, no polka dots, no crop tops, no color, in fact just wear black it’ll make you slimmer. I was a faithful follower of these fashion rules because I wanted to look skinny so it was monochrome only and I also wore big shapeless shirts and dresses because I was trying to hide my fat. Since I started my fashion journey two years ago (wow 2 years!?)the one thing I’ve learned is that rules are made to be broken. I started following plus size bloggers like The Real Sample Size (www.therealsamplesize), Lisa of the blog www.mustangsalleytwo.com,www.grownandcurvywoman.com just to name a few and these women are a size 22/24 and their fashion is fierce! I remember when my Mother & daughter gave me a dress a few years for Mother’s day and I really didn’t want to wear it because it was a bold stripe print and all I could hear in my head was “it’ll make you look fatter you shouldn’t wear stripes” but I wore it and it’s still in my closet and every time I wear it I get nothing but compliments.
Don’t let these so called fashion rules stop you from wearing what you like and love. Before you rule out a dress, shirt, pants, etc because it goes against the “fashion rules” try it on and see how it looks on you. You will be surprised I know that I have been blown away by pieces that I didn’t think would look good on me how good they actually look on me and how it makes me feel.
The only fashion rules that should exist are your fashion rules. You know what works for you better than someone who has never met you. If you’re not sure take a trusted friend along to help or if you can afford it meet with a stylist who specializes in plus size styling to help you find what works for you. Above everything break those fashion rules and wear what makes you feel beautiful, fearless, bold, and confident!
Until next time be bold, be fearless, be confident!
